Chinoz on the Park, KLCC, Kuala Lumpur

'Omg, I am famished after all that shopping. Where should we eat?’

'Let’s try Chinoz, I get a discount with my credit card.'

And that’s how we ended up at Chinoz on the Park at Suria KLCC.

Chinoz is situated in a very strategic location as it is overlooks the KLCC park and patrons can enjoy the beautiful view whilst feasting on their meals.

For starters, we had Hummus with Pita Bread, with Oven Dried Tomatoes and Jalapeno pepper toppings (RM17).

Shiv: The hummus was flavoured very well and the bread was warm and it was so good that we ordered an extra serving of bread.

Gaj: The hummus with pita bread was very good, the combination of tomatoes and jalapeno was the perfect combustion in my mouth.

Kav: Delicious! I felt like I had a taste of Middle East itself. The combination of crunchy onions, spicy jalapenos and savoury olives was like none other.

Next up, we had pasta, Pan fried Salmon with Linguine, with light Pesto cream sauce (RM39).

Shiv: It was too creamy and they could have been more generous with the pesto. However, the salmon was fresh.

Gaj: This dish was disappointing as there was no hint of pesto in the pesto cream sauce and the cream sauce was too creamy.

Kav: I think when they said pesto in the menu, they wanted you to imagine it in your head. Major let down.

We decided to try one of their maki (hand rolls) and had Salmon Avocado Maki, salmon, avocado, asparagus and yuzu mayo (RM28).

Shiv: Loved this! We have had our fair share of makis and this is definitely one of the best.

Gaj: Amaze-balls! The salmon was very fresh and melts in my mouth.

Kav: Of all the Japanese restaurants that I have been to, I would never have picked Chinoz to have the best maki ever. The salmon just melted in my mouth and the crispy asparagus complimented the maki. YUM!!!

As we enjoyed the first maki immensely, we decided to have another maki, Fire Maki, salmon, salmon skin, avocado, mayo and cucumber (RM30).

Shiv: It was soooo good, the makis in Chinoz are a must-try.

Gaj: The second maki was good, but I preferred the first maki more.

Kav: The salmon skin was so crispy and fresh. I think I can die a happy woman now.

Our last main dish was Black Cod with Pistachio pesto crust, green beans (RM69).

Shiv: The cod was really fresh, however the lentils could have been flavoured a bit better.

Gaj: The cod was fresh and flavoured very well. Overall, I liked this dish.

Kav: The fish was a little dry, the flavouring was mediocre.

We could not resist trying a few desserts and the first dessert we had was Crème Brulee (RM14).

Shiv: Had one bite and was put off so badly that we didn’t finish it.

Gaj: The crème brulee was bad, it had an egg-y flavour.

Kav: Hated this! Way too sweet!

The next dessert we had was Hot Fudge Sundae with honeycomb (RM16).

Shiv: Amazing! Out of this world! Must be shared by at least 4 people though.

Gaj: Yummy-licious! The honeycomb was amazing, loves!

Kav: The ice cream was simply scrumptious. One bite of the honeycomb was like heaven on earth. LOVES!

We decided to have the following drinks to end the meal :

Shiv: As usual, had to have a cappuccino. Can’t go wrong with Illy coffee.

Gaj: I had an Eye-Opener, strawberry, orange and carrot. This drink was really an eye opener, very refreshing and tasty.

Kav: Had a mocha. Officially, the best mocha that I have tried, I felt like I had died and gone to heaven. There was an alcohol flavouring to the mocha, however, the waiter informed us that it was a virgin mocha.

Verdict : WOK ON!

PRICE: Price-y (RM234.40 for 5 dishes, 4 drinks and 2 desserts - taking into account a 33% credit card discount on food).

AMBIENCE: Beautiful ambience, it’s beside the KLCC park, so patrons can opt to dine outside to enjoy the view.

SERVICE: Good, the waiters were friendly            .

FOOD: The food was good, would come back to try other dishes especially the lamb as they were out of the lamb that night.
